It’s Been HOW Long?

I’ve been gone for 7 months? Wow, how time flies when you are immersed in other things!

The good news, for me at least, is that I’m not dead. I haven’t been sick (although I have had a family member hospitalized at one point). I’ve just had a case of the lazies. I burned out.

I am getting refocused. I know I have to finish the Stalingrad report (the game is long since finished), and I am going to make that a priority as I head into the new year.

There are some other games that I wish to get to, as well as revisiting others. I have to do some winter cleaning in my gaming area so I can get some things set up. The next thing I wish to do is War in the Desert, but I want to explore the Rommel’s Fantasy option, an extra division or two for DAK.

I also want to go over my Narvik notes and give it another try, even throwing up the Storm over Scandinavia version of Narvik up and give it a try. The reason being is that I have not yet played a game where the Germans were able to hold the town of Narvik, or any of the adjacent hexes.

I will do my best to get Stalingrad finished and posted in the next few weeks.

In the mean time, Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you choose to celebrate), and a Happy New Year to everyone out there!

The Need to Make up Lost Time

Well, crap. I got pulled away from this game, and while I knew it had been awhile since I had continued it, I did not realize it has been almost 6 months. Read more…

The Clan

I know this has nothing to do with wargaming. I had mentioned that we lost our (nearly) 12 year old Rottweiler at the end of January to liver cancer. A month later, we had a new pair of Rottweiler puppies. I took time to grieve the loss of my beloved dog, but got the pups to help with the grieving process.

After that, time got away from me, due in large part to the two pups (if you can call them that), chasing them around, housebreaking and trying to train them, and keeping them exercised. Read more…

Time Flies

It’s been a long while since I posted an update.

Having put the loss of my dog behind me, I simply let time get away from me. I got busy with work, projects around the house, and two adorable Rottweiler puppies, who are 6 months old today and weigh just shy of 70 pounds already (which is almost as much as Sam weighed at his heaviest). It is a handful keeping them out of trouble, cleaning up after them (thank God that’s over!!), and training them. They seem to eat non stop every day. They also share my birthday.

I’m sure no one is checking in to hear about the boys, as I call them.

I am leaving tomorrow to go on vacation in Vegas, returning on the 10th. Once I get back, I am going to put some energy into resurrecting the Eastern Front game, assuming Lee still wants to continue.

I think part of the reason I have put this off is simply because I think Lee was preparing to hand my ass to me. Not that I’ve never lost a game before, but I didn’t like the way the turn was shaping up.

I also want to begin moving on and transitioning to another game. I need to clean my table up, though, and decide what it is I want to do.

Stay tuned. New updates are coming.

I’m sure I’ve said that before.

Where Have I Been?

It’s been awhile since I posted an update. Lee had started his turn, but I had to temporarily suspend the game for a bit. I hope to get back to it this weekend and pick up from there.

One of my dogs got sick with terminal liver cancer. My wife and I spent the last week of his life taking him to the vet for tests, then once cancer was confirmed, we put him down. I have been spending the last week working through the grieving process. Read more…
